Triformix’s Value Proposition is Deep Product Design Knowledge
Our team has the product design expertise and the understanding of applications to support each
customer’s unique optical and opto-mechanical requirements. In a world of ever-faster and ever more demanding
development cycles, we will be your essential development partner.
We begin design work at all stages of a customer’s design cycle:
- Develop optic and opto-mechanical specifications for a customer’s application and provide designs to meet those specifications.
- Design to specifications developed by a customer.
- Provide design for manufacturability input to a customer’s design.
- Product design
- Optical design
- Packaging design for components and assemblies
Triformix’s optical design experience includes:

Illumination
Our design team is expert at designing refractive, reflective and TIR secondary
optics with 15+ years of experience in high efficiency primary and secondary optics design.
We provide integrated package with die / encapsulation / secondary optic designs,
with high brightness LEDs for all leading LED suppliers, including Osram, Lumileds, and
Cree. We also provide laser based illumination systems, and we have in-house proprietary
optical designs to enable low-cost manufacturing.

Imaging
We have broad experience with various imaging applications, including digital imaging
and vision based systems. Using the full range of optical materials and component forms
available, our designs incorporate aspheric surfaces as well as diffractive and optical
filtering elements. In digital imaging, we develop single or multi-element systems
to meet the demanding requirements of increasing sensor pixel densities and smaller package
sizes. We specialize in ultra-small camera designs with very wide field of view for medical
device applications.

Color Management
Our expertise in color management ranges from the use of coated filters for
wavelength discrimination to splitting or combining light into or from different wavelengths.
Our designers understand that optical coatings on polymers are different from optical
coatings on glass. We also integrate coated glass elements into polymer systems. We offer
optical multiplexing and demultiplexing products and we have a history of working with color
sensors to provide the measurement capability to allow a CMYK printer to adjust dot size,
dot placement, and color balance.

Opto-electronic Packaging Design
The key advantage of the injection molding process is the ability to design complex,
multifunctional components. At Triformix, we have put together a team of optical and
mechanical engineers to exploit this capability to our customer’s benefit. Our team can
integrate multiple materials, including plastic and glass; insert-molded lead frames; and
flex circuit technology to design a module at the die-level for optimum cost savings and
efficiency. Our team can provide illumination and imaging as single systems or as integrated
systems.
